Sandra Storey has been an active resident of Jamaica Plain since 1973. In 1985, she was elected chairperson of the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council. Storey founded Gazette Publications Inc. in 1990 which published the Jamaica Plain Gazette (1990-current), Mission Hill Gazette (1990-current), and Hyde Park Today (1994-1997). Storey founded and edited the newspapers until 2010 when the Jamaica Plain Gazette and Mission Hill Gazette were sold to the Independent Newspaper Group.
This collection contains two series which contain photographs and corresponding notes used in the publications of the Jamaica Plain Gazette (with Hyde Park Today) and Mission Hill Gazette. The third series contains print issues of the Jamaica Plain Gazette and Mission Hill Gazette from June 15, 2011 to December 7, 2011. Materials from 1995 to 1997 are limited.

Storey founded Gazette Publications Inc. in 1990 which published the Jamaica Plain Gazette (1990-current), Mission Hill Gazette (1990-current), and Hyde Park Today (1994-1997). Storey founded and edited the newspapers until 2010 when the Jamaica Plain Gazette and Mission Hill Gazette were sold to the Independent Newspaper Group. Storey continues to work as an editor for the newspapers and as a columnist for the Jamaica Plain Gazette. Storey is also a published poet who works to bring poetry to the general public through local workshops and events. In 2014, Storey was named Community Champion by Ecumenical Social Action Committee Inc., a non-profit organization that offers community-building social services for Boston and Eastern Massachusetts residents.
The bi-weekly Jamaica Plain Gazette, in some cases including inserts for Hyde Park Today, and monthly Mission Hill Gazette featured articles about the residents, businesses, and organizations in their respective Boston neighborhoods in both English and Spanish. The newspapers ran articles that highlight youth programs and sports, senior services, transportation and housing issues, and the achievements of local residents. Community involvement by politicians including former Mayors Raymond Flynn and Thomas Menino, former Governor Deval Patrick, and President Barack Obama was also featured.

Contains images from community events, social programming, youth and senior services, local crime, youth sports, and community involvement by local, state, and federal politicians including former Mayors Raymond Flynn and Thomas Menino, former Governor Deval Patrick, President William Clinton, and President Barack Obama.
Contains photographs depicting scenes from local businesses, social programming, youth and senior services, and daily life in the Boston neighborhood of Jamaica Plain which were included in or considered for publication for the Jamaica Plain Gazette (1991-2013). Materials from February 1991 through December 2008 are arranged by issue with limited materials available from 2009 through 2013. Also included are photographs from bi-weekly inserts that pertain to the neighborhoods of Hyde Park and Roslindale with dates ranging from September 1992 through December 1997. Photographs are in physical and digital formats. The collection includes notes, including publishing information.
