The Plainfield, Vermont, Monthly Meeting began in 1959 as a worship group under the care of the Burlington Monthly Meeting. In 1965, it was set off from Burlington under the care of Northwest Quarterly Meeting. It has since been the source of several other worship groups, including those at Barton-Glover (1984-1990), St. Johnsbury (1987-1990), Montpelier (1992-1993), and Peacham, meeting in Barnet (Vt.) (1995-present).
The bulk of this collection includes minutes and newsletters spanning approximately 40 years. In addition to these records, there is a smattering of correspondence and committee reports as well as information on finances, membership, day camp and various programs.

Scope of collection
The bulk of this collection includes minutes and newsletters spanning approximately 40 years. In addition to these records, there is a smattering of correspondence and committee reports as well as information on finances, membership, day camp and various programs.
The location of various types of information (minutes, Ministry and Counsel reports, State of the Society reports, financial information, epistles, etc.) appears to have varied over the years with different newsletter editors. In some years, all information was gathered in the newsletter; in other years, not (for example, in some years, the newsletters contains no copies of the business meeting minutes; in other years, that is where they can be found). In general, when published separately from the newsletter, these items have been given their own folders. Otherwise, the newsletters contain much of this information and are a good place to look for various pieces of information.
The one exception to this organization is the annual State of the Society reports. Because these are often only one page, reports that appear in the newsletter have been copied and filed in the State of the Society Reports folder, so all of those available can be found in that folder.
